What Super Powers Do You Have?

Super Power #1: I’m the Idea Queen.

I have lots of ideas, often. I’ve been told I don’t follow through on things, but in my habit of upcycling my thoughts and not focusing on the “buts” of my statements…

I like to look at it as brainstorming (and I like to brainstorm out loud!). Some ideas catch on and move from my brain to my life, and others don’t make the cut. If I never had any ideas…what would I ever do?

Sometimes my ideas turn out to be bad or disgusting---like spaghetti squash and Daiya---but now that I'm a grown-up, I don't have to bury wasted ingredients in the yard to avoid anyone knowing about it!

Super Power #2: Β When I wellness coach, I have this way of getting people to think more positively without having to sound or feel fake or cheesy (well, I can be cheesy sometimes, but it seems to work). I’m a chronic upcycler, and I’m pretty sure that my success at wellness coaching has as much (or more) to do with how I interact with people as it does with all the knowledge behind the PhD. I’d like to share some of my client’s success stories on the blog if anyone is interested in reading about them! (Note: I’m not trying to sell services or anything like that–It’s just for inspiration’s sake)

Unrelated:

I saw this article about Self-promotion on Crazy Sexy Life today, and I loved this line:

“I’ve got what I’ve got, which is a lot. If that warms your cockles, let’s talk. If not, my engine is running, and I trust that your tribe is waiting for you elsewhere. meep meep.”

Related to that:

I just bought Crazy Sexy Diet and can’t wait to read it.

I have no good pictures from yesterday. I stayed inside and did work, until I went to the grocery store. At the store, I wandered aimlessly for an excessive length of time thanks to the blizzard hype—everyone shopped the day before in anticipation of being snowed in, and I could have totally danced through the aisles (if I wanted to).

I also Skyped with Matthew. He was spending his snow day morning in his dad’s insurance office.

He left his "office" for a minute to go get something...this is a big box in which he has put a blanket, a stuffed dog, the laptop, some magazines...
Just enough space to lie down and chat about dogs and hunting and stuff. He sang me a song too.

What are your Super Powers?

Do success stories motivate and inspire you?

Do you have a special little person in your life?

The Ultimate Smoothies Workshop is tonight! So far, my partner in crime is still in Milwaukee, but hopefully she flies in before the event… Hopefully I’ll con someone into being a photog for the event so you can see it tomorrow! What would be in your favorite smoothie?

  1. I'll let you have the “idea queen” title. But I am the “idea princess” and I never follow through with any of them! Every now and then, tho I pass my idea on to hubby and someone else who doesn't have ADD follows through.
I ordered the Crazy Sexy Diet book on my Kindle and am going to do a combination of her plan, Natalia Rose's Detox for Women and bits of Suzanne Somers The Sexy Years (for over 40) Sounds complicated but it's fairly clear in my head. I will get the plan on paper a few days at a time.
Matthews office is so awesome! I love the old school/new school of skyping in a cardboard box!
I am picking up my little ones today. Haven't seen them for a week and that's too long for this Nana!

  2. Um my superpowers would be being a good hostess. And caring about others, I guess! =D
    I love reading success stories!!!!
The smoothie workshop sounds like a lot of fun! My ideal smoothie would have all sorts of tropical fruit in it!!!!

  3. Girl I'm a think think thinker too. Always coming up with ideas. My problem is the follow through. I get so excited about something, about the prospect, and then I guess I chicken out. That's why my resolution this year was to live fuller, take those chances. Can you come wellness coach me please πŸ˜‰

  4. 1. I'm still able to justify any purchase I make. [I've also gotten better at making more valued purchases. πŸ™‚ ]
    2. I love that quote from Danielle on Kris's blog as well. It's been resonating with me about jobs and things… and I'm putting it to use! (I also was planning on getting the book soon!)
    3. Matthew is the best. Just the best.

Have fun at the smoothie workshop!

  5. I don't know that I have super powers. I'd like to think I do with all the crazy food concoctions to make eating with food allergies fun! I love inspirational stories and they do motivate me! My boys are definitely special to me. They bring such sunshine to my life!

  6. I would LOVE to hear about client successes. I'm freaking out over here because since starting my blog where I actually talk about my life and my wellness…my MOM has lost 9 pounds and is doing awesome…my DAD has lost 23!!! pounds and is training for a race against me πŸ™‚ My GRANDMA wrote me a personal email about needing to lose 20 pounds in order to qualify for new knees and has turned to me for help (this is crazy astounding) my COUSIN has decided to kickstart her health and is going to train for a half with me this summer and my SISTER is also posting to me about the healthier choices she's making. It sorta makes me want to cry because I wasn't open to them for so long about why and what makes me tick because they didn't really seem to want to hear it. So…I say my Superpower right now is the gift of inspiration. πŸ™‚

That quote is freaking.awesome. Please don't hate me for using it sometime.

  7. Hm…I can't think of any super powers I have, but I know what I want: the power of flight!! I love success stories! They always put a smile on my face πŸ™‚

  8. My super power is the power of positive touch… I am in massage therapy school and utterly blown away by what positive touch can do for our fellow humans! I want a cozy little box to lay in with my laptop too. πŸ™‚

  9. I think it's totally valid to just be the “idea makers!”

That sounds like a good detox plan. I saw Suzanne Somers on tv last week,

and I liked what she was saying… Have fun with the grandbabies!

  10. I know that cycle! I get so excited about things…and plan it all out, and

then over a few days, I get the “what were thinking!?” thing going on…

Living fuller and taking chances definitely needs to be one of my things

    too.

  11. I can't wait to see what you say about that book–I've been wanting to order it! My son is my special little person in life–he motivated me each and every day! And I love a good success story too. πŸ™‚

  12. I'm definitely a brainstormer too. Let us know what you think of Crazy Sexy Diet, I've heard a lot about it! My favorite smoothie would definitely have blueberries…delicious!

  13. ooo, hope your partner gets to the workshop!! fingers crossed for you both!! would love to see photos!
i have TWO special little ones in my life – my two nieces, ages 18 months and 4 years. they live an hour away and i've been blessed to be able to visit them at least once per week since they've been born. also babysat the first one 3 days per week for two years (long story!). bet matthew loved the skype time!
i love planning/brainstorming/dreaming…like you say, some ideas are flops, some successes. c'est la vie!

  14. Hey Lisa,

We noticed in your blog that you didn't enjoy spaghetti squash and Daiya Cheddar, and are wondering if our products were cold when you ate this. Daiya is meant to be cooked; melting our products really brings out the flavor profile and stretch like dairy-based cheeses. Spaghetti squash, melted Daiya, chili flakes and s&p is one of our favoite meals, and we hope you give this dish another try!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me direclty cr@daiyafoods.com. Thanks for trying our products, we hope you enjoy them in the future!

    Healthy Regards,

  15. Kristina @ spabettie

I sometimes get overwhelmed with my ideas – I make lists like crazy too – I'm an awesome list maker πŸ™‚

I just got Crazy Sexy Diet too!! can't wait to read it!

  16. my husband says my super power is coming up with strange food combinations and having them taste good…I know what you mean about having so many ideas — it almost makes it impossible to follow through, with so many ideas it's hard to focus on just one!
I LOVE success stories — they make me happy, no matter what they're about!

  17. hmmm super power??!!? I would say I have the ability to have my clients walk out of my office feeling good and ready to conquer their goals. I feel like I am a good motivator and can show them the positive of any situation…. Now if I could just get them to stay motivated the other 6 days they don't see me!!

  18. My supper power is connecting people- I seem to be able to see how this person and that company connecting could make them both money and create some greatness. I love that!
