Lazy Lady’s Guac, Daytime PJ’s, Winter Cleaning, More Veggies…

I’m working at home again (read: big smile and daytime pj’s—which could usually double as yoga attire, but my yoga instructor is in India right now). I meant to go get coffee at Starbucks, but when I went outside, I only made it as far as Bruegger’s (crossing Monroe felt like too big of a chore). Either way, I think I’ve had more coffee in 2011 than I had in the whole second half of 2010—which totally busted my intention (not resolution) to decrease my coffee/caffeine intake.

Yesterday I meant to make guac, but when I scooped out the avocado, I looked in the fridge and decided to make the lazy man's (or lady's) version...
...I sprinkled this in (plus a smidge of Himalayan crystal salt). There is a slight bit of crunch because it has a few sesame seeds in it.
I meant to saute some veggies and greens and dump it on top of a salad...but I ended up accidentally dumping in too much Herbamere, and had to add the rest of the spinach, the whole thing of 'shrooms, and more grilled veggies to soak it up (frozen from Wegmans Just Picked variety)...I ate a huge bowl of it, and added turmeric at the last minute. (Why? http://www.thrive-style.com/2010/06/the-spice-diaries-turmeric/)
Yesterday, I meant to refill my spritz bottle with Magnesium and totally overflowed it, so instead of dabbing it on my lymph nodes (tops of feet, backs of knees, groin, pits, upper chest), I rubbed it all over my legs....big mistake, made me totally super alert, but itched and burned like a mutha' !) I'll post soon why I'm bothering with this magnificent mineral!
I meant to clean my workspace (which has overflowed into the living room), my pantry, my car, and my closet...but I only cleaned the workspace (including desk!). This pile is gone.

All in all, if I count the things I got done in the last 24 hours, I was really successful! Β So, I’m looking at that instead of comparing the results to the intentions…it makes me feel better and more motivated to tackle today’s list.

What have you meant to do lately that didn’t happen? Β Did you dwell on it, or just pat yourself on the back for what you did accomplish?

  1. I have the same intention regarding coffee and caffeine consumption for 2011… but it has proven to easier said than done when it is cold and snowy outside! πŸ˜‰

Magnesium oil? I am intrigued… never heard of it. I do love magnesium in the form of Epsom salts!! (Just took a nice long soak with them last night!) I will be staying tuned. πŸ™‚

Feel free to visit me at http://www.tasteforhealthy.blogspot.c...

  2. Love your blog! Thanks for the link to it πŸ™‚

I love epsom salts too. I'm trying to come up with some alternatives (lower caffeine) to sub in for coffee. When I'm at home I find I really want to be eating or drinking something…and water is NOT cutting it right now…

    Thanks for the comment πŸ™‚

  3. This is why when I write a “To Do List” the first task I put down is “Write To Do List” then the next task is usually “Eat Chocolate.” This way I always know that I will at least accomplish two things off that list! πŸ˜‰

  4. I have so many things on my to-do list. Sometimes I dwell on all that didn't get done, other times I'm good to pat myself on the back for all that did get done – even things that may not have been on the list. I would LOVE to work from home.

How awesome is guac? I love a lazy version (smash avocado, mix with salsa…and done!). I meant to wash the bathroom floors and didn't….I've gotten a ton done over the past few days, so I didn't dwell! I will get there

  6. I am in love with guac…really, I'm in love with avocados in most forms!

The salsa-guac shortcut is great. I haven't done that in a while, maybe with

    my next avo (tomorrow!).

  7. Working at home is so fab…I highly recommend it! It's temporary, sort of,

for me because I have a class starting on Jan 24th that's face-to-face, but

I can handle going to work for an hour at 11am, and then doing the rest from

    home!

  8. I do things like that too! Love it—I also add things to my list after

I've done them, just so I can cross them off πŸ™‚ Whatever it takes to feel

    good, right?!

  9. I've been meaning to clean my car out for MONTHS. Everytime I get in it I promise I'll get it done…and then I run out of time. It's my *intention* to get this done ASAP. Happy stay-at-home day to you!

  10. I can't wait to hear about the Manesium Oil. I am very curious! I meant to dust this morning, but I went to Bikram Yoga instead. Maybe I'll get to it this afternoon! πŸ™‚

  11. You've made me very curious about the magnesium! And the guacamole (lazy version or not) still looks delicious. I would eat avocados in any way, shape or form.

  12. I got the Synergy stuff in Wegmans, which is a grocery store in the NE…in

the healthy food section. I haven't seen it in other health food stores,

but in Weg it was near the salad dressings and condiments… Let me know if

    you find it somewhere else!

  13. I've been trying to make my weekly to do lists more manageable, so that I can actually get everything done. It makes a world of difference in my attitude.

That salad booster product looks awesome, where on earth did you find it?

  14. gosh I thought it wasn't going to let me leave a comment! SHEW

I am jealous you can work from home. I would love to be able to do that!
and I can't wait to hear about that mineral magnesium !!!

I set out to buy yarn to start a new sweater but spending 60 bucks seems steep to me right now, so I am changing gears and recycling some yarn. That makes me smile!

  15. When I saw “lazy girl's guac” I thought YESSS! But where did you get that salad booster? Sounds delicious!

Yay for being successful in the past 24 hours! I rarely ever cross everything off my to-do list, but I always pat myself on the back for what I did accomplish! πŸ™‚

  16. I'm really curious to see what you're using the Magnesium for!! And I love Wegmans- I remember when I first went to one while visiting my parents in Northern VA- whoa. Nothing that nice in Atlanta! Thank you sooo much for stopping by my blog and commenting. I really appreciate it & love your blog!

  17. Thanks for the comments on my blog!

I would love to work at home and have daytime pj's. πŸ™‚ The pictures of your food looks so YUM!

  18. So I visit a Natural Health Center for chiro/massage therapy and I've seen/heard a lot of good things about magnesium! Can't wait to hear more about it. I worked from home today too! Daytime PJ's all day =) Oh, and on my 4 things you mentioned New York during the holidays…I just love Xmas so much that I think NY is like the epitome of it and I SO want to go =) I can deal with the cold for that =)

  19. LOL about your coffee/caffeine comment! Well, some resolutions are just waiting to be broken..or not even attempted/started?!?!
nice work on the quick and easy guac – yum!
this would be a good pj day up here, too – cold!!!
    have a great evening, lisa!

  20. Wegmans seems to have sort of a cult following—there are new commercials with Alec Baldwin, and let me tell you…people are a little overly prideful on that one! It is a really great store for sure πŸ™‚

  21. Mmm, I had vegetarian taco salad for dinner and guac was the one thing that would have made it better! Sounds delicious. (The salad booster looks pretty great too!) I'm looking forward to your post on the magnesium oil, if it helps with alertness I would be all over that around 3PM every day. πŸ˜‰

  22. Allison @PickyEatingRD

I always have a long to-do list. It is always longer than what I can actually do but i never dwell on it!

  23. You got a ton done! And that guac looks delish! Guac is the best dip ever! I’ve been trying to get a ton of things done lately, but between work, working out and just plain life, it’s been tough. Still need to get an oil change and my eyebrows done. Lol, putting those two things together makes me laugh. Maintenance for my car and face! πŸ™‚
