This weekend I decided I would focus on ingesting more greens—-smoothies and juice. Right now, I’m not growing any wheatgrass—I have to buy more wheatberries, and to be completely honest, I’m way too busy right now to do anything extra (except I am watching Swiss Family Robinson right now with Matthew and Joey in preparation for our Disney trip in June).
Due to being busy, and still wanting to fit in working out and yoga (and sleep and the sauna….and spending time with my family), I need to make sure I have enough nutrients. I also invested in the awesome Greenstar juicer, so I need to use it!
My first concoction involved the blender. These are some of my favorite things—why not combine them into a super-duper power green drink!?

Swamp Thing Smoothie
8-12 oz Coconut water (depending on how thick you want it)
2 tsp Maca powder
2 tsp Sun Is Shining Green powder
1/2 scoop Vega Sport
1/2 tsp MSM powder
1/4 tsp Camu Camu powder
1 Tbsp Tart Cherry Juice concentrate
Blend. This was tangy and yummy! But if you’re not used to green stuff, ease into it!

Today I made Green V7 Juice:

If this seems a little intense, or the ingredients seem a little obscure, start somewhere more normal for you. A year ago, I would have never made either one of these drinks….but I started somewhere, and kept trying new things till I got to where I am now. You don’t have to try or like bitter extreme green swampy drinks like I do, but there are plenty of ways to make a simple green smoothie that’s really yummy, healthy, and doesn’t taste like you’re drinking a salad!

Wow, this is what I call a green juice! I think I will try it. This will be a step forward into green smoothies. I’m more used to make fruit based green smoothies. The sweetness of the fruits help cut the bitterness of the greens. But I’ve been looking for a good vegetable green juice recipe, and this one looks interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Veronica,
I’d love to hear how you like it! It definitely is bitter…I would normally enjoy it with more apples, but I was surprised that (although I clearly noticed) the bitterness tasted good!
Thanks for the comment,
Lisa
I am quite intrigued by these green smoothies. i love how your son is so into the whole process, so cute!
