Healthy Grain Free Sloppy Joes

I’ll be honest, I have not eaten many sloppy joes in my lifetime…maybe once or twice (and I can’t really remember it). So these really are my own version. Like always, it’s pretty simple, and I tried to keep the junky stuff out!

I found that I ended up liking them best when I left the lids off and just ate it with a fork. But it was good in sandwich format too, just really messy.

Grain Free Sloppy Joes

1/2 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp Annie’s worcestershire sauce (please use this or another brand from the health food section! Regular worcestershire sauce has high fructose corn syrup and all kinds of gross stuff in it!)
3 Tbsp tomato sauce (I used pizza sauce because that’s what I had, but I’m sure any tomato sauce would work)
3 T parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp minced onions
1/2 – 1 tsp of southwestern seasoning (I used the 365 brand—this is really to taste. I think I added a little extra in the end.)

Saute all ingredients together on medium until the meat has cooked and the sauce has reduced a bit.

Make coconut flour flatbread, either the version with milk/liquid or the version with melted coconut oil. To the batter, add a few shakes of southwestern seasoning and anything else you like. Garlic or pizza seasoning would be good!

Top your flatbread with the sloppy joe mixture and sprinkle parmesan on it if you want to!

This was one of those things I just made up on the fly because I had ground beef I needed to use. I ate the entire batch in a day...so yeah, it was good.

News/Notes: Nothing new! I’ve been doing a lot of yoga…and last night accidentally went to a level 4 class. It was humbling to say the least…but it gave me oh so much to strive for! I love yoga back in NY, but here it is at a whole new level. There are so many people and so many great yoga teachers that classes are just better. I’m in yoga heaven πŸ™‚

I made pizza today…(the sloppy joes are from last week). So I have a new coconut flour pizza crust recipe to share too, but I want to make it one more time before I post it. I’m finding it really easy to cook for just myself… I can eat whatever I want whenever I want to!

I’m heading out to meet someone for a drink. Should I call it a date? Probably, but let me see if he’s nice and if I like him first…and then I’ll tell you tomorrow whether it was a date or not πŸ™‚

It’s probably awkward for me to tell you details—what if he googles me (after he finds out my last name) and finds this! HA.

Hope your week is great so far… I’m counting down to my red-eye on Thurs… hopefully I’ll be ready!

You read my mind with this recipe!!!!! I have been thinking about making these for weeks now. I bought grass-fed ground beef a month ago it’s in my freezer. They have sloppy joes at whole foods and Ella loved them! (no bun, just in those little sample cups). SO thank you for the recipe…I know it’s a no fail with you πŸ™‚

Great to hear form you, friend.

Hahha…have fun having “drinks” –yea it’s a pretty good bet that he may google you. I know I would if I were single hahahaha. I’d love to hear about it though!

I can’t keep up with your recipes! I wanna make them all (I have been). I used 2 of your recipes just today. I know I will definitely like these sloppy joes, ill have to see if John does too. If not he can get his own buns πŸ˜‰

Have fun on your “date”! I’m with Laury on that I would probably google my date too πŸ™‚

We always end up making sloppy joes or bbq sandwiches open faced so flat bread is perfect. Can’t wait to see this pizza crust. And I hope the meet up went well!!!

  4. YUUUUM! Next time I have ground meat I’m going to make this. Just used all of my ground beef on meatballs — which were UNREAL.

Oooooh datedate! I’ll have to hear all about this πŸ™‚ Hope to see you sometime this weekend! xo lovely!

I can’t wait until I can have salt again and can eat stuff like this. It sounds amazing! i have been making flatbreads like a crazy person. Such an easy, clean way to make bread. I use a blend of Kamut and coconut flour, then finish it off in the oven to make a pizza crust.
